Samoa Pacific Ocean.

Location: Samoa Pacific Ocean.

Client: Samoa Water Authority

Date: April 2012 to Nov 2012

Scope: The design of a Pressure Sewer Reticulation & Collection System to serve 105 properties on the within the Capital of Apia.

Samoa is located 3592kms North east of Brisbane, Australia, and is position within the pacific ocean. The current capital is predominantly served by onsite septic absorption systems and an existing pressure sewer system only servicing 90 commercial properties. There were three areas within the capitals boundaries that are going to be connected to the new system 1) Mulinuu Point, 2)Vaea St and 3) Beach Rd Wharf extension.

The existing reticulation of around 6.5klms was installed using directional boring technologies and open cut excavation and the design and construction of a SBR treatment facility were installed in 2010. The new scope of work was to extend the existing system to service more areas, and train the existing operation and maintenance team in procedures and servicing of pressure sewer equipment.

The Aquatec OGP Pressure Sewer Pump Unit (PSU) was used. Most installations required the use of open cut excavation due to high water table.

There were four motels, two hotels, industrial wharf area, and a light commercial area that were serviced in this project and these installations required larger storage tanks and a two pump configuration which included a duty/standby arrangement.
